How to Wear Lingerie as Outerwear

Each year, one style in particular seems to come back into play in one way or another.  Whether it’s a lace corset or a peekaboo bra, lingerie-inspired clothing is always reemerging and reinventing itself.  This year is no exception as we see it hitting the fashion headlines once again.  Celebrities from Rihanna to Victoria Beckham have been spotted stepping out all over town wearing boudoir-inspired style.

Lingerie-inspired looks have persisted on runways and red carpets for quite some time now.  Many high-end designers such as Louis Vuitton and Christian Dior continue to include lingerie-esque elements to their collections.  Last year, Vogue Paris’s cover photo from their “September Issue” also featured a gorgeous sheer black lace lingerie-esque style dress.

There’s a fine line between wearing sexy lingerie that’s intended to be worn underneath your clothing and wearing it as an actual fashion statement. When done correctly, incorporating lingerie-inspired trends into your wardrobe can give your everyday look a couture cutting-edge.

Adding Lingerie-Inspired Pieces Into Everyday Fashion

Like any trend, there are tips and tricks to make it work for you.  Adding lingerie-inspired pieces into everyday fashion can be easy and give your self esteem a boost of confidence.  When wearing crop tops, bralets, and lacy camisoles it’s important to display them under a jacket to keep them daytime-friendly.  Wearing a jacket with a silky, lacy camisole, or a bustier top with pull your look together. Adding a jacket also eliminates the worry of looking like you are wearing your intimates out in public.  This also works for office or low-key settings by showing less  skin and buttoning it up a bit.

Mixing Fabrics Adds a Seductive Feel

Another way to make this look work is to mix different fabric effects like lace, ruffles, silk and sheer materials.  Wearing these fabrics, especially together, will immediately create a boudoir feel.  Together they will amplify the seductiveness of your lingerie inspired look. Remember to keep it simple and make sure your look is tasteful and not bedroom-ready.

Lingerie Fashion Week Fall 2014 Ones to Watch Special Exhibition: Negative Underwear

The global tour known as Fashion Month left New York for the European markets a few weeks ago, but there's still an abundance of new styles for fashion editors to review stateside. While the Fall/Winter 2014 Ready-To-Wear shows took place on the catwalks in Milan, New York enjoyed a cheekier array of American collections this weekend.

The city hosted its third season of Lingerie Fashion Week from Feb. 20-22, featuring a mix of presentations and runway shows. The event was created to give intimates apparel brands a platform to promote their latest designs to the fashion community.
We spoke to the designer and co-founder of Negative Underwear, Marissa Vosper, about this season's shows. She expressed enthusiasm about how the event elevates the exposure of undergarment collections.

"Lingerie Fashion Week has brought sexy lingerie more into the spotlight, similar to how ready-to-wear has become popularized. Now there's room in the market and interest for people to celebrate what's worn underneath."

Vosper debuted pieces from Negative's first collection at Lingerie Fashion Week with her business partner and co-designer, Lauren Schwab. The pair was delighted to take part in the event, especially as newcomers to the intimates market.

"I appreciate that Lingerie Fashion Week features major brands and emerging talent. It's good to see a mix of both," Vosper said.

Negative was among five other up-and-coming intimates brands at the Ones to Watch special exhibition presented by The Lingerie Journal at Canoe Studios on Friday night. The other labels included Iris, Lola Haze, Neveah, Arsenic & Vieilles Dentelles, and Black Bird Underpinnings.

Each brand shared a distinct point of view for Fall 2014. From chic, minimalist bras and panties for everyday wear to lacy boudoir sets with matching garter belts, these six lingerie brands showed their most alluring pieces to fashion insiders and underwear enthusiasts alike. With such beautiful designs available in an array of rich fabrics and bold color palettes, it's a pity that we won't see them worn on the streets of New York (that we know of, anyway).

Agent Provocateur lingerie: yet another sexy look book

While some girls see autumn as the perfect opportunity to put on some extra layers of style, the Agent Provocateur girl is the one to always get excited about what hides beneath all those additional layers of clothes. For fall /winter 2013, Agent Provocateur releases a dangerously sexy lingerie that borrows inspiration from the ’90s supermodels working the runway in George Michael’s “Too Funky” video.

As a result, this season’s novelty comes in bold sculpted pieces cut in PVC, faux leather and power mesh, veiling the soft sensuality in armor-like construction. Colour plays a key role in the autumn display, as a palette of acid yellows, petrol blues and fiery scarlet, put the emphasis on a subdued kind of sex-appeal.

Ultra-fine creations dipped in the classic combination of pink and black are gifted with sweet femininity, managing at the same time to draw attention to all the right spots. Both dramatic and subtle, the sets of lingerie highlight the old-school hourglass curves by making use of traditional corsetry construction and elaborate couture finishes.

You can see all of the Agent Provocateur autumn (fall) / winter 2013 collection by clicking on a thumbnail on the left. From there you can browse through each of the pictures from the collection.

Jungle Fever – the new Myleene Klass swimwear collection

Myleene Klass has launched her new swimwear collection for Littlewoods, modelling the collection herself in a jungle-themed shoot reminiscent of the star’s own turn in the jungle on ‘I’m a Celebrity…’ eight years ago.

The collection, which went on sale last week, features a range of bikinis in animal prints and bright florals as well as block colour pieces, strapping details and a cute white crochet set.

The sexy swimwear is accompanied by a number of beachwear styles including maxi dresses and skirts and a pretty lace dress.

SS14 Swimwear trends guide

Even if you haven’t had the chance to perfect your beach body in time for holiday season, there really is no excuse for sporting last year’s tired old swimwear. After all, finessing your on-trend off-duty wardrobe is part of the fun of planning your trip, and will ensure you’re looking appropriately fabulous as soon as you arrive.

From sporty to glamorous, there really is a 2014 swim trend to suit everyone. Take the chance to prove your fashion status pool side and give yourself an instant body confidence boost with our edit of new season styles to look out for.

Exotic accents

Michael Kors showed animal print sexy swimwear for SS14 and modern snake print will give a on-point refresh to your look. Infinitely glamorous, exotic accents will always complement sun-kissed skin.

Sporty meets surf style

Look out for sports-inspired detailing. Rashguards, surf and botanical prints and fold-top briefs all feel fresh. Big wave and navy blue also make a trend splash. Preen, Dior and Rachel Comey (below) all featured the bold hue for SS14.

Feminine flourish

Pretty prints as seen at Bottega Veneta and Zimmerman SS14 will appeal to your girly side. Add extra details with fun bows or flirty frills and keep the rest of your accessories minimal for a chic finish.

Back to black

Flattering and timeless, for some of us, this trend has never gone away. Don’t get too comfortable though. The way to make black swimwear feel fashion-forward this season, is about extra details. Resort SS14 designers including Herve Leger and Jason Wu (below), focussed on asymmetry, cut-outs and straps.

Cover-ups

Searching for a look to take you from beach to bar? With so many sophisticated sartorial takes on the classic cover-up, you’ll be spoilt for choice. Try culottes, wide-leg trousers, floaty maxi shapes, kaftans, slip-on dresses or a boyish linen shirt for instant, versatile style.

Other combinations with shorts may be found later, as we see the duos of cropped tank tops with hipsters and the cropped T-shirt with the micro patterns of the shorts.

Relaxed forms come right after, put with duos like pajama type bottoms involving some design patterns like paisleys and pieces like peachy T-shirts for the tops. Push-up bras and nice miniskirts with flare shapes form the next peculiarity of the looks. Also, we should talk about the absolutely stunning checkered patterns for the shorts coming right after, matched with the yellow tops with long sleeves.

Bandeaus and triangle bottoms form the next peculiarity of the Women Secret swimwear 2014 collection especially due to the shades of white and blue. Sassy variants like the combos of pink halter like tops and relaxed shorts, as well as the paisley-adorned jumpsuits are also remarkable in terms of the creative diversity. Finally, it’s the lingerie variants that catch our attention again, this time coming with designs like garters and delicate patterns and shades for the combos. Wedding lingerie is an important part of the event

Your wedding day is one of the most memorable of your life is massive. There is so much to get together and organise that you could forget about preparing for one of your most intimate moments as a couple – your wedding night!

Trying to organise the event itself, and your dresses etc. can take away from your mind on deciding on your bridal lingerie. Not only do you need to choose the right type of underwear or garments that will fit perfectly under your bridal gown, you want to choose something that accentuates your features and gives you that confidence in your body. Your wedding lingerie should automatically turn your man on and have him begging to see more – so make sure you take in some of the following points to get that exact result!

The majority of the gowns are white, some beige but mostly whight, so you don’t want to go for coloured lingerie on your wedding day unless you want the whole ceremony to see them! Slightly coloured lingerie like a peach, or a cream, would also work, but white seems to look the best. Of course, it depends on your skin tone and your features like your hair colour, but white tends to go best for your wedding night.

You want to choose a fabric that you feel comfortable in – something which does not irritate, and you can breathe in just fine. You’ll be on your feet all day running around, so you need to make sure you are more than comfortable! The more comfortable you are, the more relaxed you can be – so try and go for a silk or cotton lingerie set, it offers the right appeal aesthetically, and comfort.

You want to make sure that your figure is smooth and hidden underneath your gown – choose sheer lingerie without lines, like a thong and bra set which fits your style of gown. However – you may want to choose something which is hidden during the day, and get your sexy underwear on before your night gets a little hot!

All in all, choosing your wedding sexy lingerie is an important part of the event – you are going to look back on this night as maybe the most passionate of your life. So don’t just go with something simple, really get creative and turn your wedding night into a passionate, sexy affair!

A Perfect Day For A Pillow Fight

You’d think the clever Canadians who dreamed up World Pillow Fight Day would have picked a nice summer day so we could all revisit our favorite childhood combat game in our jammies or bedtime underwear.

But no, it’s held on the first Saturday of every April for some reason. And last weekend, thousands of brave souls in places like New York, Boston, Toronto and London bundled up in their parkas and wellies for an old-fashioned outdoor slugfest. At least all that cardio helped participants stay warm.

But the chilly weather in many of the 100+ cities around the world that held Pillow Fight Day events didn’t dampen the enthusiasm in the UK, where a group of lingerie brands came together to slug it out in style.

The fashion PR company Calico Ventures jumped on the made-for-PR occasion to stage a Pillow Fight Fashion Shoot in Trafalgar Square and at other notable London landmarks.

A total of 16 brands represented by Calico had their sexy lingerie on display as models posed for photographer Ana Gely. The mix of labels ranged from luxury brands like Louise Ferdinand and Kocolala to pinup favorite Kiss Me Deadly and newcomers such as Janay, Augustine and Karolina Laskowka. Sadly, none of these brands make onesies.

Here’s a look at how they all made the best of a perfectly silly occasion. Now, we can’t wait to see what they come up with for World Naked Bike Ride Day.

Shell Belle Couture SS13 Collection

Shell Belle Couture’s SS13 collection, Swan Song, embraces the Golden Era of fashion, luxury and elegance with more timeless, vintage-inspired pieces that look like they walked off the pages of The Great Gatsby. “Our new collection includes Rendezvous for bridal & special occasion. Anais for our vintage lace & silk indulgence & The Great Gatsby Gold Leavers Lace gently styled with Silk Crepe de Chine,” said designer Michelle Blenkinsopp. “Enjoy a languid summer with beautiful shades of forgotten Aristocracy including Butter, Bluebird & our signature Pink Champagne & Gold.” Michelle added that the new collection introduces her exclusive Vintage Silk print “Swan Song” which embraces the 1930’s love of Swans and their Regal association. “This evocative print is for both lounging & swimwear in Powdered Rose with soft Grey Swans in flight.”

Through Michelle’s latest designs, we were able to see some of the sexy lingerie trends we’re noticing and trends that she herself is influencing with this refined collection reminiscent of a 1930’s love affair. What we took from Shell Belle’s new collection is this – some trends may come and go but there are some that are forever ingrained in hearts. No matter how much time passes, true style is transcendent and that never goes away.

Lingerie Trends at CurveNY

Calling all sexy lingerie lovers. Want the inside scoop on the trends for FW14? Look no further. Myself a lingerie stylist and Nomi Ellenson a lingerie photographer had the chance to visit the Curve New York show for this trend piece that buyers, industry pros and lingerie fanatics will all enjoy.

CURVExpo is the largest Lingerie Show where designers, manufacturers, department store buyers, boutique owners, press and bloggers all come together to devour the sweetest intimate trends in lingerie fashion. Here in NYC, many top brand names were featured as well as upcoming designers showcasing their Fall/Winter collections — in all, over 300 brands participated in CurveNY. Feast your eyes on what trends caught our eyes and will soon be taking up residence in not only our lingerie drawers but also your customers. For those of you that love to be cheeky with a POP of color we saw many designers that weren’t afraid to be bold and bright. Whether it was solid neon, multicolored, polka dotted or texturized with satin and lace; the options were endless. We happened to fall in love with the Dessous full coverage bra by Claudette. Everything from the shape to the colors was so feminine and eye catching.

Being huge fans of 20s fashion and the “Great Gatsby” we loved seeing all the lingerie with geometric detailing that was very Art Deco inspired. Triumph had an amazing, beautiful black high-waist panty and bra set with sheer cutouts in all the right places, yet still leaving some to the imagination. This is flattering for all shapes and sizes whether you are trying to camouflage or play up your waistline. We wanted to take this right off the mannequin and put it on.

Surprise your mate with something hot. It’s amazing how many women don’t wear lingerie. I dated someone once who adored the fact that I did because none of his exes wore sexy lingerie. The bonus was the fact that I was the biggest woman (at size 20) he ever dated. We have to love our bodies and be confident in our skin and I’m telling you lingerie is a great way to spice up your relationship and surprise your the one you’re with.

FOR RELAXATION

Wearing lingerie is a great way to pamper and treat yourself. There is nothing more relaxing than sliding on a sexy outfit for yourself after taking a bubble bath surrounded by candles.  You don’t have to be in a relationship to let your inner sex kitten out.

SEXY CONFIDENCE DURING THE DAY

Can I share a secret with you? I like wearing lingerie in and out of the bedroom. Lingerie is a great way to make you feel confident even if you’re wearing it underneath a business suit. Imagine walking in the room with a sexy stride to your step. Something as simple as a pair of silk panties will have you sounding bossy while feeling feminine.

ENHANCE YOUR CURVES

For some reason corsets and boy shorts have a way of enhancing a woman’s figure. Plus size lingerie has come a long way. Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show 2013-2014

November begin with several great events in fashion and one of them was Victoria’s Secret fashion show that took place at the Lexington Armory in Manhattan. Victoria’s Secret Angels came down on the catwalk to show their divine beauty. I want to share my experience with you and represent some of the best moments from Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show 2013-2014.

As always Victoria’s Secret show was not just a simple show. Hollywood stars and singers accompanied this gorgeous event and it turned to be really epic. This fashion show had six themes “British Invasion”. Birds of Paradise”, “Parisian Nights”, “Shipwrecked”, “Snow Angels” and the last one was “PINK Network”. 40 beauty bunnies walked down and rocked the catwalk with the hottest and the sexy lingerie by popular label.

Surely you have heard about the most expensive Victoria’s Secret lingerie that cost 10$ million. Candice Swanepoel was the one who wore Royal Fantasy Bra with precious stones. Doutzen Kroes, Alessandra Ambrosio, Adriana Lima, Cara Delevigne, Izabel Goulart, Maryna Linchuk, Jessica Hart, Lindsay Ellingson, Jac Jagaciak and many others represented new pieces included in 2014 spring and summer collection.I thought that Royal Fantasy Bra will be the key item of this fashion show but I was wrong. The whole show was full of stunning pieces. One of them was Adriana Lima’s Pearly Queen costume with 3000 pearl buttons.

It is simply worthless to say that the whole collection was all about bright colors, color combos, glitter, embellishments and feathers. Make sure you do not miss the day when Victoria’s Secret new pieces are launched.
