Marks and Spencer's autumn/winter collection for 2014-15

MARKS and Spencer's have focused on outerwear, workwear and lingerie for their 2014-15 autumn/winter fashion collection.

IT’S not just autumn/winter 2014-15. It’s Marks & Spencer’s autumn/winter collection for 2014-15.With a reported increase in womenswear sales in the last quarter – the first time in years – perhaps M&S have finally figured out what women want.

They have focused on what they’re good at – outerwear, workwear and, of course, lingerie, with fashion-forward pieces thrown into the mix. While iconic pieces like the monochrome, belted fur coat will draw in fashion fans and glossy magazine editors, it’s the more wearable pieces that will keep shoppers coming back.

The tailored coats, in pastel peach and blue, are bound to be best sellers. With prices from £85, I know where I’ll be heading for my winter coat.Sexy lingerie has always been a big seller for M&S but the latest collection is more than just your everyday basics. Delicate lace detail, exquisite fabrics and form-flattering shapes give the range a more upmarket edge.

I’ve noticed a huge improvement in the M&S accessories department in recent months, especially in footwear, and that looks set to continue, with some brilliant winter boots and bags.Chunky, block-heeled boots, in soft suede and leather, pictured right, are practical and not too pricey.

It’s not all good news, though. I’m not convinced that the new midi and maxi length skirts are either flattering or practical. And while they are trying hard with eveningwear, heavy embellishment and tailored shapes won’t convince me that Marks is the place to splurge on my Christmas party outfit.

All in all, though, I’m impressed by the improvement in the ladieswear range.John Lewis and Next better watch their backs, because Marks & Spencer really mean business next season.Summer hasn’t even arrived yet and I’m already counting down to the arrival of the new season stock.

HOW TO SELECT YOUR LINGERIE FOR THE BIG DAY - AND NIGHT!

The thing about your wedding night is… Well, we all know what the thing about your wedding night is, right? Your wedding night is one of the most intimate and special times you will share as a newly married couple and the most important thing is that you feel relaxed, confident and beautiful. You know what'll help? The right lingerie - here are a few tips to consider when dressing to, eventually, undress.

While of course you want to delight and excite your new hubbie, don't get caught up in how you think he wants you to look. He just married you; you can be pretty sure he thinks you’re 100% fabulous. Wedding lingerie should be all about the person wearing it - choose what you think you look good in and, most importantly, what you're comfortable wearing.

Unlike the rest of your wedding, where, well, other people's opinions matter, lingerie is your gift to yourself. Don’t underestimate just how big a part your sexy lingerie has to play on the day (and night) - it deserves some decent attention and consideration. Your choice of lingerie is vital - not only does it have the important task of ensuring your dress fits snugly at every crease and angle, but it is the one thing on your wedding day that is sacred between bride and groom only. (You can bet your bottom dollar that aunt Mildred won't be admiring your ivory silk basque!)

Ensure you choose the correct shape and size that will move with your body: support but not restrict you. Comfort is key and it's no harm to give yourself a trial run. Wearing your precious garments while you do the weekly shop will actually give you a cheeky thrill, as well as allowing you to get used to the fit and fabric. (Just don't forget to check the washing instructions beforehand - you may decide that dry-cleaning your smalls a week before the big day is a bit too much like hard work!)

Choosing the right pieces is both exciting and vital. While some brides prefer to make the choice privately, many will seek the advice of their bridesmaids or other right-hand women (or men!). Go to a reputable lingerie supplier and definitely get your measurements taken - these can vary wildly from brand to brand, and from month to month. You don't want to be pulling at your bra straps while you walk up the altar!

The wedding corset is still really popular and can work wonders for giving that extra bit of shape at the waist - but a lot of designers, like Suzanne Neville, will include built-in corsetry or boning in their gowns, so double check before investing! And don't cinch too tight; it’s not the 1920s and you want to taste your cake! These come in all shapes and sizes to complement your dress and body shape and it’s vital that they fit in exact harmony with both, so try on the entire finished package - perhaps with a girlfriend and a glass of bubbly - before the big day.

Final touches such as stockings, garters and hold-ups are very much a personal choice so go for what makes you feel special. There is nothing wrong with sneaking away to add a few finishing touches before you retire for the night with your new husband!

And for that good old garter, if you still manage to have it securely in your possession by the time the last song has been played, it will add the ultimate bridal touch to your night-time look. Choose one that fits snug enough to stay up, but not so tight that it cuts off circulation. You'll need those legs for dancing the night away! Enjoy!

How to buy lingerie

For a great many, if not most men, the thought of purchasing lingerie for their significant other is a frightening one. The pressure of wanting to find something absolutely perfect, beautiful and feminine that also fits, that she likes and that he likes, can be overwhelming. That coupled with the notion that everyone in the lingerie shop is watching their every move can make many men reach for the gift cards instead.

Buying lingerie for a woman is not actually that complicated. If a man knows his partner’s size and has a good impression of her style and taste, it is easy to shop for lingerie that will suit her body type and make her look and feel sensational.

Considerations when buying lingerie: size

When buying sexy lingerie for a woman, the most important thing to know is her size. This is not the vague numbers found on blouses and jeans, but rather consists of two sizes: the bra size and the panty size. The bra size consists of two things: the number (or band size) is the measurement around the ribcage just below the bust, while the letter (or cup size) is the measurement around the fullest part of the bust. For example, a bra sized 36C denotes a band size of 36 inches and a cup size approximately three inches larger.

Considerations when buying lingerie: body type

Once the right size has been identified, the next step is assessing the woman’s body type and choosing the style of lingerie that will look best on her frame. In general, it is wise to avoid lingerie that will cling too much to the thighs or belly, areas most women want to conceal. The aim is to enhance and draw attention to the right curves, but not to stick to them.

How to Purchase Lingerie and garter belt

Keep in mind shape, size and comfort when purchasing lingerie Garter belts and corsets look good on taller women and help to accentuate their curves even if they are slender. Corsets also help to support the bust and will boost cleavage while at the same time cinching in the waist and smoothing out the stomach.

A man cannot go wrong when shopping for lingerie if he looks at negligees; these suit even the most voluptuous women and are excellent for the woman who wants to hide her trouble spots. Baby-doll teddies are excellent for hiding a too-big tummy or butt while allowing the woman to show-off as well.

Lovely Lingerie: The Best Underpinnings For a Romantic Valentine's Day

February is the month for love. Red roses, heart-shaped chocolates and frilly underpinnings are must haves for Valentine’s Day; and while we love a good box of sugary treats, nothing says amour quite like a lacey set from our sexy lingerie brand. Moving away from the everyday panties and bras that are only sexy because, well, you’re in your underwear—we sought out only the sexiest, sultriest designs. We sifted through the good, the bad and the downright wild to pull only the best, most luxurious lingerie we could find. Valentine’s might be only one night, but with these pieces you can make the romance last all year.

We’re big believers in wearing a color because it suits you—not because it’s the novelty shade of the holiday. That being said there’s not a lot of red and pink in our list, but there are some devilishly brilliant colors and designs like Bordelle’s Valina Bodysuit. In ochre and black, it features Grosgrain bows, silk and French Leavers lace, and 18kt gold metalwork. It doesn’t get more luxurious than this, and we’re sure it will pair nicely with the diamonds you’re sure to be receiving for Valentine’s. The Bordelle Valinia Bodysuit is available at Nancy Meyer and priced at $1,300.

Maybe it’s because we love Agent Provocateur’s latest campaign, or because they have some of the sexiest lingerie around, but no Valentine’s list is complete without the British brand. For the best blend of sultry and naughty we love the Demelza set. The bra, brief and suspenders are made from ultra-fine Bobbinet tulle with crisscrossing rouleaux silk bindings and Sophie Hallette lace motifs. The sheer paneling and geometric designs take the eye to all the right places, making for an eventful night.

There’s something so sweet and innocent about pale pinks and nudes; they just makes us want to skip through a field of flowers. And while we don’t recommend actually running through the park in your skivvies, there’s nothing wrong with lounging around your living room with the bouquet of roses your sweetie sent over. The Eres Medieval Atours bra and panty feature Leaves lace patchwork, Chantilly lace and an underwire-free cup.

For the most sparkling look of the night, Fleur of England’s All that Glitters collection is part fantasy, part fairy tale. You’re not going to need a glass slipper, but you might want one. Made for a princess, the bra is fashioned of Italian Chantilly lace, invisible Italian tulle and silk straps. The thong and suspender belt are composed of silver, hand-foiled Chantilly lace in platinum silk. You don’t even need a Prince Charming for this set—just grab a glass of wine, slip into your new lingerie and settle in for a Once Upon A Time Netflix marathon.

As much as women want to look sexy on Valentine’s Day,they want to be as comfortable as possible too. There’s no point in getting gussied up if lace is going to be itchy, straps are digging into your skin and nothing is being held up. The Margaux collection from I.D. Sarrieri treads the middle ground with a line that’s both comfortable and sensual. Made with couture Chantilly lace and fine tulle, it also comes with stretch silk satin, gentle underwires and half padded cups to keep you comfortable and in place.

If you prefer to leave very little to the imagination, or just want to cater to your lover’s fantasies, the Lascivious Mai Basque chemise will likely be your new go-to for any date night. Textured black tulle over sheer nude fabric gives peaks at the skin underneath without revealing too much. This is easily the trendiest piece on the list with Gaga-esque flared hips, leather trim and a caged pattern.

In the event you totally forgot to get your Valentine a gift (hey, it happens) you can always wrap yourself up in a bow. But go for tasteful rather than tacky in this La Perla Private Allure set. A push up bra and brief in tulle with satin inserts and macramé bows makes for the perfect present.  And just in case you need to stay warm while waiting for your honey to come home, or nip downstairs later in the evening for another bottle of champagne, these slinky robes will keep you covered, sexy and looking festive.

What Professional Woman Wants to Wear Lingerie As Clothing?

The Wall Street Journal's Christian Binkley argues that the ubiquitous sexy lingerie inspired looks on the Paris runways this season are a somewhat desperate attempt at grabbing shoppers' attention. That's important in These Times. But she highlights a glaring problem with all the panty diaper shorts, super-short miniskirts, see-through clothes, and "pointy Mad Men bras":

These sorts of styles, shown by fashion houses including Christian Dior, Jean Paul Gaultier, Giambattista Valli, and Yves St. Laurent, garner attention. But they risk turning off many professional or mature women, who can only imagine how embarrassing it would be to wear such things.

Rihanna may not be embarrassed in the least to sit on a front row in a see-through dress, or walk around town in thigh-high boots and no pants, but she is a pop star. Though the runway collections were great for her kind this season, what is the sense in marketing clothes only people like her can get away with? Are not these professional or mature women the ones with the earning power?

But, with the exception of some designers, like Phoebe Philo, a majority of this industry might not be thinking about the professional woman. Reuters reports:

Shelly Musselman, co-proprietor of the Forty Five Ten boutique in Dallas, was not surprised by the seductive trend.

"Women want to look that way — and the husbands who pay for the clothes want them to look that way!" she told Reuters after the Alexander McQueen show.

Well, this may come as a shock to Shelly, but we certainly don't want to look like we walked out of the house having forgotten to put our clothes on. When we get dressed, we want to get dressed — with pants and shirts and all sorts of other opaque things — and not look as though we're heading to a secret after-hours side job. And we buy our own clothes.

13 Things Every Confident Woman Should Have

It’s holiday season . . . the season of indulgence. Halloween just finished up, then there’s Thanksgiving and then all the other avalanche of holidays start to roll on in. Oh yeah, then before you know it, everyone is raving about New Year’s Eve. And all the days in-between call for drinking, eating and lots of sweets. Rarely a second for gym time! But even though we might be regretting all the indulgences of the season after the fact, there is always enough time to whip yourself back into your normal, healthy routine in the new year. The emergence of the new year always sheds light on a bunch of important things, all of which revolve around ourselves. We wish we did this. We wish we didn’t eat so much of that. We regret not taking a chance that one time. But in the end, it really is never too early or too late to start thinking about the best you that you want to be and how you can get to that place. And the easiest, and healthiest, way to do so it to focus on things about yourself right now that you are very proud and happy to call your own. 13 things about yourself that you are confident to state that you love without a quiver in your voice at all. These are the 13 things (they can be anything you want them to be) that we want you to stick to right now, like you did yesterday and plan on doing years from now. Here are ours:

1. Go-To Bra

You feel your best when you know you have something pretty on underneath. Even on your most basic or drabby of days, sometimes your bra and undies can make all the difference in making you feel at least a little bit put together and feminine. Every girl should have a go-to lingerie set that is sure to make her feel sexy and like a woman no matter what kind of day it is. We always wear an Adore Me bra, of course!

2. Favorite Pair of Feel Sexy Undies

While we are all about wearing matching bra and undie sets here at Adore Me, sometimes we want it to be all about the sexy lingerie.  Wearing something a little bit more scandalous on the bottom rather than on top makes for an exciting surprise at night with your man!

3. A Weekly “Me” Day

The Adore Me girl is usually a very busy one, with hardly a second to relax and really just focus on herself. That is why we recommend that you make it a priority to save at least one day a week just for yourself. It might seen hard to find the time to do so, but if you really try hard to find a day to forget about the crazy go-go-go-ness of your everyday life, for at least a few hours after work one day each week, your body and mind will really thank you. Take a long bath. Get a mani/pedi. Go for a run by yourself along the water. Cook yourself a healthy dinner and watch your favorite movie on Netflix. Read that book you’ve been putting on hold. Catch up on chores and blast your favorite tunes. Just chill out and not do anything at all. What would you do on your perfect “me” day?

4. A Signature Scent

A confident girl knows what she likes, and especially so when it comes to smell. Super sweet, nutty and masculine, fresh and floral or something that’s in-between them all. What’s your signature scent? If it makes you feel good, go for it, and let it remind you of the person you want to be each day you spray it on.

5. Perfect Fitting Blue Jeans

There are trendy jeans that you pick up each season, and then there is that old pair that you’ve had in your closet for years, that you not even sure where you picked them up in the first place. Extra soft. Super blue. Hug you in all the right places.  Distressed in all the right areas. What’s your feel good, go-to pair that you never have doubts about even before you put them on?

6. A Pumped Up Theme Song

Everyone has that one song that really gets them when out, say, at the club. No matter how dorky, how mainstream, or how intense, your life in the form of a great jam is something you should be proud to announce. And it should be something you can dance to whenever you want, be in private or in front of a room full of people.

7. A Go-To Drink

A confident girl knows her drink at the bar! Whether it’s whiskey on the rocks or something fruity and sweet. Or just plain old water! Order your drink with pride at the bar, and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.

8. An Essential Lip Color

Every woman’s face is different, and some colors work and some just don’t. It’s important to learn what suits your face shape and skin tone, and lipstick can do so much to liven up to even the most basic feeling of days. Choose a color you know always works for you (a classic red), or experiment with something a little louder and try working it into your daily routine. It might just make you feel that much more confident.

9. A Morning Ritual

What’s the first things you have to do each morning to get started on the right foot? Getting out on the right side of the bed in the morning is very telling about how the rest of your day is going to go. If you are looking to have a positive, bright day, starting it off with a positive, bright mood is key. Wash your face with ice cold water first thing. Take a long chug of lemon water. Drink some hot tea to calm yourself. Do 100 sit ups before actually getting out of bed. Jumping Jacks. A long yoga stretch. What makes you feel your best in the morning? Make sure to give yourself time to do your morning ritual so that you can have the best day ever.

10. A Feel Good Nail Color

Nail polish is always so fun to play with because no matter how crazy or loud it is, it will always feel subtle because, hey, it’s your nails. Get yourself a feel good nail color that instantly makes you feel better as soon as you put it on. It should be something that you normally wouldn’t wear on a daily basis, or that’s a color you are extremely inspired by but have yet to have the guts to try out for yourself. A bright coral pink, a lime green, a super metallic silver, or an American flag pattern. Why not? Go all out.

11. A Muse

Who do you look to for not just style inspiration, but also lifestyle inspiration. Is there someone, a celebrity, a writer, an artist, someone who you wish you were a bit more like in your everyday life? Take bits and pieces of that person, your muse, and try to infuse it into the areas of your own that you think you’d like to work on. It’s good to have someone that goes above and beyond in a certain area that you admire. It makes for good goals to strive for and better ourselves with.

12. A Motto

Have you ever come across a great quote that made you stop and think, and eventually stuck with you? These might just be the words you live by. It can be something as simple as “breathe” or something a little bit more playful yet truthful like the Marilyn Monroe quote: “Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius, and it’s better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring.” Stand strong by the words that are in line with your way of thinking, and let them remind you everyday to stay true to what they mean.

13. A Healthy Body Image

What part of your body do you love the most about yourself? Focus on it and cherish it. Repeat to yourself over and over again that it is beautiful and that it makes you feel confident. You see it, so you got to believe it. Having a healthy body image is one of the most important things a confident woman needs most. Everything starts with acceptance and love for what your body is and represents.

Some tips for choosing the right sexy lingerie

Choosing sexy lingerie isn't easy if you're the least bit self conscious. After all, when you're wearing a teddy or a babydoll, there's not much left to the imagination. If you're feeling wonderful, either because you're madly in love or you've been dieting and have reached your target weight, you can probably put on different types of sexy lingerie without feeling too self conscious. However for some women, the thought of wearing some sensual lingerie may prompt you to get those lights off as soon as possible, so it's important to feel comfortable with your own body and emphasise your positive features which will in turn make you feel appealing and desirable.

Women of today consider their lingerie as an important part of their wardrobe. Online shopping has made it very easy and opened up a new world for finding lingerie that is sexy, exotic and also comfortable to wear. Choosing the right lingerie for you may take a bit of practice. There are many different types of sexy lingerie to choose from and comfort is just as important as the way you look.

Popular types of lingerie are corsets, bustiers, babydolls, gowns, teddies and camisoles to name a few. The important thing to consider though is how much each type of lingerie will show off your particular figure. Some might draw attention to your breasts while others might show off your legs.

Here are some tips for choosing the right sexy lingerie for you:

First, think about how you feel - are you shy or proud of your body? Are you embarrassed showing too much skin or are you comfortable hitting the beach in a tiny bikini? It is good to be daring but if modesty can't easily be forgotten you may find that a sexy lingerie set makes you feel more inhibited and not less. However, you may find that your lingerie is like a costume which makes you wilder than usual.

Focus on your best features. Babydolls and teddies are perfect if you want to show a lot more leg and bust.If you have small breasts choose lingerie that shows off your bottom or legs to distract from your breast size. Put on a pair of sexy stockings and a garter as they do a good job of lowering the eye to the legs. Bring the eyes to the areas of your body that you feel comfortable with. If you have large breasts, styles in plus size lingerie with under wired bras or halter tops can help lift and enhance cleavage.

If you want to hide your stomach, chose a babydoll with an empire waist babydoll which will still show plenty of leg. Remember, you want the fabric to skim, drape or flow and not pull or wrinkle in the wrong places. If you are short, a gown with slits up the legs will give the illusion of being taller. Short baby dolls can also give you a leggy look. It's important you choose styles which are proportioned for your height and if you're tall make sure you don't select something that is supposed to be long but looks too short. It's better to opt for styles that are cut to be short and highlight your long, beautiful legs. However if you want to hide your legs, maybe choose a long nightgown with spaghetti straps and a deep neckline.

For those of us who are pear shaped try something a little loose fitting on the top, but not too loose. If you are a pear with small breasts and feel sensitive about this, choose a sexy baby doll and add some cleavage with something padded or a push up bra.
Robes have the amazing ability to make you feel you have covered all of your flaws. A sexy robe can complement a bra and panty set and make you look and feel gorgeous.

Whether you're petite or big and beautiful, the lingerie you buy must make you feel wonderful about yourself - that means sexy, sensual, desirable and most importantly, special.

How to Wear Lingerie as Outerwear

Each year, one style in particular seems to come back into play in one way or another.  Whether it’s a lace corset or a peekaboo bra, lingerie-inspired clothing is always reemerging and reinventing itself.  This year is no exception as we see it hitting the fashion headlines once again.  Celebrities from Rihanna to Victoria Beckham have been spotted stepping out all over town wearing boudoir-inspired style.

Lingerie-inspired looks have persisted on runways and red carpets for quite some time now.  Many high-end designers such as Louis Vuitton and Christian Dior continue to include lingerie-esque elements to their collections.  Last year, Vogue Paris’s cover photo from their “September Issue” also featured a gorgeous sheer black lace lingerie-esque style dress.

There’s a fine line between wearing sexy lingerie that’s intended to be worn underneath your clothing and wearing it as an actual fashion statement. When done correctly, incorporating lingerie-inspired trends into your wardrobe can give your everyday look a couture cutting-edge.

Adding Lingerie-Inspired Pieces Into Everyday Fashion

Like any trend, there are tips and tricks to make it work for you.  Adding lingerie-inspired pieces into everyday fashion can be easy and give your self esteem a boost of confidence.  When wearing crop tops, bralets, and lacy camisoles it’s important to display them under a jacket to keep them daytime-friendly.  Wearing a jacket with a silky, lacy camisole, or a bustier top with pull your look together. Adding a jacket also eliminates the worry of looking like you are wearing your intimates out in public.  This also works for office or low-key settings by showing less  skin and buttoning it up a bit.

Mixing Fabrics Adds a Seductive Feel

Another way to make this look work is to mix different fabric effects like lace, ruffles, silk and sheer materials.  Wearing these fabrics, especially together, will immediately create a boudoir feel.  Together they will amplify the seductiveness of your lingerie inspired look. Remember to keep it simple and make sure your look is tasteful and not bedroom-ready.

Lingerie Fashion Week Fall 2014 Ones to Watch Special Exhibition: Negative Underwear

The global tour known as Fashion Month left New York for the European markets a few weeks ago, but there's still an abundance of new styles for fashion editors to review stateside. While the Fall/Winter 2014 Ready-To-Wear shows took place on the catwalks in Milan, New York enjoyed a cheekier array of American collections this weekend.

The city hosted its third season of Lingerie Fashion Week from Feb. 20-22, featuring a mix of presentations and runway shows. The event was created to give intimates apparel brands a platform to promote their latest designs to the fashion community.
We spoke to the designer and co-founder of Negative Underwear, Marissa Vosper, about this season's shows. She expressed enthusiasm about how the event elevates the exposure of undergarment collections.

"Lingerie Fashion Week has brought sexy lingerie more into the spotlight, similar to how ready-to-wear has become popularized. Now there's room in the market and interest for people to celebrate what's worn underneath."

Vosper debuted pieces from Negative's first collection at Lingerie Fashion Week with her business partner and co-designer, Lauren Schwab. The pair was delighted to take part in the event, especially as newcomers to the intimates market.

"I appreciate that Lingerie Fashion Week features major brands and emerging talent. It's good to see a mix of both," Vosper said.

Negative was among five other up-and-coming intimates brands at the Ones to Watch special exhibition presented by The Lingerie Journal at Canoe Studios on Friday night. The other labels included Iris, Lola Haze, Neveah, Arsenic & Vieilles Dentelles, and Black Bird Underpinnings.

Each brand shared a distinct point of view for Fall 2014. From chic, minimalist bras and panties for everyday wear to lacy boudoir sets with matching garter belts, these six lingerie brands showed their most alluring pieces to fashion insiders and underwear enthusiasts alike. With such beautiful designs available in an array of rich fabrics and bold color palettes, it's a pity that we won't see them worn on the streets of New York (that we know of, anyway).

Agent Provocateur lingerie: yet another sexy look book

While some girls see autumn as the perfect opportunity to put on some extra layers of style, the Agent Provocateur girl is the one to always get excited about what hides beneath all those additional layers of clothes. For fall /winter 2013, Agent Provocateur releases a dangerously sexy lingerie that borrows inspiration from the ’90s supermodels working the runway in George Michael’s “Too Funky” video.

As a result, this season’s novelty comes in bold sculpted pieces cut in PVC, faux leather and power mesh, veiling the soft sensuality in armor-like construction. Colour plays a key role in the autumn display, as a palette of acid yellows, petrol blues and fiery scarlet, put the emphasis on a subdued kind of sex-appeal.

Ultra-fine creations dipped in the classic combination of pink and black are gifted with sweet femininity, managing at the same time to draw attention to all the right spots. Both dramatic and subtle, the sets of lingerie highlight the old-school hourglass curves by making use of traditional corsetry construction and elaborate couture finishes.

You can see all of the Agent Provocateur autumn (fall) / winter 2013 collection by clicking on a thumbnail on the left. From there you can browse through each of the pictures from the collection.

A Perfect Day For A Pillow Fight

You’d think the clever Canadians who dreamed up World Pillow Fight Day would have picked a nice summer day so we could all revisit our favorite childhood combat game in our jammies or bedtime underwear.

But no, it’s held on the first Saturday of every April for some reason. And last weekend, thousands of brave souls in places like New York, Boston, Toronto and London bundled up in their parkas and wellies for an old-fashioned outdoor slugfest. At least all that cardio helped participants stay warm.

But the chilly weather in many of the 100+ cities around the world that held Pillow Fight Day events didn’t dampen the enthusiasm in the UK, where a group of lingerie brands came together to slug it out in style.

The fashion PR company Calico Ventures jumped on the made-for-PR occasion to stage a Pillow Fight Fashion Shoot in Trafalgar Square and at other notable London landmarks.

A total of 16 brands represented by Calico had their sexy lingerie on display as models posed for photographer Ana Gely. The mix of labels ranged from luxury brands like Louise Ferdinand and Kocolala to pinup favorite Kiss Me Deadly and newcomers such as Janay, Augustine and Karolina Laskowka. Sadly, none of these brands make onesies.

Here’s a look at how they all made the best of a perfectly silly occasion. Now, we can’t wait to see what they come up with for World Naked Bike Ride Day.

Through Michelle’s latest designs, we were able to see some of the sexy lingerie trends we’re noticing and trends that she herself is influencing with this refined collection reminiscent of a 1930’s love affair. What we took from Shell Belle’s new collection is this – some trends may come and go but there are some that are forever ingrained in hearts. No matter how much time passes, true style is transcendent and that never goes away.

Lingerie Trends at CurveNY

Calling all sexy lingerie lovers. Want the inside scoop on the trends for FW14? Look no further. Myself a lingerie stylist and Nomi Ellenson a lingerie photographer had the chance to visit the Curve New York show for this trend piece that buyers, industry pros and lingerie fanatics will all enjoy.

CURVExpo is the largest Lingerie Show where designers, manufacturers, department store buyers, boutique owners, press and bloggers all come together to devour the sweetest intimate trends in lingerie fashion. Here in NYC, many top brand names were featured as well as upcoming designers showcasing their Fall/Winter collections — in all, over 300 brands participated in CurveNY. Feast your eyes on what trends caught our eyes and will soon be taking up residence in not only our lingerie drawers but also your customers. For those of you that love to be cheeky with a POP of color we saw many designers that weren’t afraid to be bold and bright. Whether it was solid neon, multicolored, polka dotted or texturized with satin and lace; the options were endless. We happened to fall in love with the Dessous full coverage bra by Claudette. Everything from the shape to the colors was so feminine and eye catching.

Being huge fans of 20s fashion and the “Great Gatsby” we loved seeing all the lingerie with geometric detailing that was very Art Deco inspired. Triumph had an amazing, beautiful black high-waist panty and bra set with sheer cutouts in all the right places, yet still leaving some to the imagination. This is flattering for all shapes and sizes whether you are trying to camouflage or play up your waistline. We wanted to take this right off the mannequin and put it on.

4 Reasons To Dress Your Curves In Sexy Lingerie

Wearing lingerie is something that every woman should do at some point. Not only is it sexy but lingerie is a great way to celebrate those special occasions. If you’re not convinced, keep reading for our four reasons to bring out the lace and satin chemise next time you’re feeling a little frisky.

SURPRISE YOUR MATE

Surprise your mate with something hot. It’s amazing how many women don’t wear lingerie. I dated someone once who adored the fact that I did because none of his exes wore sexy lingerie. The bonus was the fact that I was the biggest woman (at size 20) he ever dated. We have to love our bodies and be confident in our skin and I’m telling you lingerie is a great way to spice up your relationship and surprise your the one you’re with.

FOR RELAXATION

Wearing lingerie is a great way to pamper and treat yourself. There is nothing more relaxing than sliding on a sexy outfit for yourself after taking a bubble bath surrounded by candles.  You don’t have to be in a relationship to let your inner sex kitten out.

SEXY CONFIDENCE DURING THE DAY

Can I share a secret with you? I like wearing lingerie in and out of the bedroom. Lingerie is a great way to make you feel confident even if you’re wearing it underneath a business suit. Imagine walking in the room with a sexy stride to your step. Something as simple as a pair of silk panties will have you sounding bossy while feeling feminine.

ENHANCE YOUR CURVES

For some reason corsets and boy shorts have a way of enhancing a woman’s figure. Plus size lingerie has come a long way. Instead of being reduced to wearing solid bras and basic panties, we can dress our curves up in balconette style bras that will provide more volume and lingerie that will keep our curves in perfect shape. There you have it! We’ve given you four reasons to dress up your curves in something nice every day of the year. Lingerie isn’t just for Valentine’s Day so the next time you go shopping buy something special for yourself.

La Perla Lingerie Winter 2014 Collection

The lovers of unique and luxurious lingerie already know La Perla brand that every time offers new line of stunning lingerie pieces. For coming winter La Perla represented brand new collection of sexy lingerie.

The philosophy of winter collection is sexuality and woman’s body. Styles are bold and dramatic. I should admit that I have never seen such lingerie and I almost fainted when I saw those pieces. I am totally sure that you are addicted to lingerie just like me and you will simply loose your breath. The main idea of Italian brand was to create line of sexy lingerie that included really effective pieces with details that would never be repeated. From color palette to textures and fabrics everything screams for sexuality.

Besides of sexy bras and bottoms La Perla winter 2014 lingerie collection includes several pieces of sexy camisoles and corsets. The one that I liked most was red camisole with black lace details. This is actually one of several examples that are not transparent. Almost all combos are transparent with expensive lace.Bras are quite bold and dramatic; they are perfectly suitable for special occasions (if you know what I mean).

La Perla 2014 winter collection is epic not only with those ultra-hot lingerie pieces but also with models, their makeup, hairstyles, poses and interior.

Dita Von Teese’s New Lingerie Line is Affordable ’50s Glamour

If we could channel any woman in the boudoir, it would be Dita Von Teese. Even when she’s just in her underthings, she epitomizes grace and glamour, while still being mercilessly sexy. The burlesque star has just unveiled her latest lingerie collection, a modern reincarnation of styles from the 1950′s, and it has us considering investing in vintage-inspired undergarments more than ever before.

As tends to be the case with dedicates, the beauty is in the details, from the flawless lace and trims, to the fishnets. Dita describes the designs as”accessible glamour,” with prices running from $40 for a lacey thong to $300 for a bodycon slip dress. The line includes corsets, torsolettes, chemises, balconette bras, garters, suspenders, and all that jazz.

It’s taken us too long to take the plunge into neo-vintage sexy lingerie thanks to the convenience of fast fashion. $18 for a bra and panty set? Don’t mind if we do — although we probably should. These pieces often begin to unravel at their first wear, and far too often walk a fine line between alluring and trashy, but it’s hard to argue with the wallet-friendly economics. This is why Dita’s eponymous collection has piqued our interest, the prices are within reach, and it was made at the hands of our favorite modern day pin-up goddess. A no-brainer, indeed.

The collection just launched on Bloomingdales.com and will roll out at Bloomingdales’ brick and mortar locations on March 15th.

The Revolution Will Not Be Screen-Printed on a Thong

On the heels of Jezebel’s splashy hunt for unretouched photos from Lena Dunham’s Vogue photo shoot — and coinciding with the tenth anniversary of Dove’s “Real Beauty” ad campaign — American Eagle underwear line Aerie unveiled “Aerie Real,” an ad campaign featuring unretouched photos and “no supermodels.” Hailed as “revolutionary,” the ads announce, “The girl in this photo has not been retouched. The real you is sexy.” With colorful undergarments marketed at women ages 15 to 21, Aerie seems to be casting itself as the anti-Victoria’s Secret— the Jezebel to Victoria’s Vogue.

Promoting body acceptance is, at this point, a tried-and-true genre of advertising, but “real woman” ads nevertheless send me into a self-doubting spiral every time I see them. Stage One, playing into their hands: Real bodies! So beautiful! Stage Two, eye-rolling: Why do I need a sexy lingerie corporation to affirm the “real me”? Am I supposed to be weeping for joy right now, like all these women who didn’t know they were beautiful until a soap brand (phonily) told them so? Stage Three, backlash-to-the-backlash: But attainable beauty standards are better than unattainable ones, right? If feminist messages sell mall merchandise, that means we’re winning. Stage Four, eyes rolling all the way around: Even if it’s pro-woman, it’s still patronizing.

Aerie, Dove, and their ilk are still catering to female insecurity; they’re just doing it in a feel-good way instead of an anxiety-inducing one. Like all “lifestyle brands,” they’re still in the business of selling women better versions of themselves; in this case, they're just presenting a slightly more modern ideal than Victoria’s Secret. The “real” you is confidently sexy, even in her undies with the lights on. She’s bigger than a size two, but has no cellulite whatsoever. When she gains weight, her shape maintains an optimal waist-hip ratio. Her skin is "flawless" and she has no blemishes — probably because she’s a professional model. Amber Tolliver, the plus-size star of one of Aerie’s ads, was discovered at age 15 at an open call for Ford Models.

Candice Swanepoel Sensual in New Nearly Bare Ads

Candice Swanepoel, who has to be one of the most photographed models in the world, takes on another campaign for Brazilian denim brand Forum. It’s not hard to see why she’s in such demand. She oozes smoldering sexuality.

While the 25-year-old model may be best known for her work with Victoria’s Secret, she’s appeared in dozens of campaign over the past decade.Spotted at 15 while shopping at a flea market in her native South Africa, Candice has the perfect proportions for both runway work and swimsuit and sexy lingerie modeling. She’s a shapely five-feet, nine-inches tall and weighs in at around 120 pounds. She’s walked runways for Tommy Hilfiger, Dolce and Gabbana, Michael Kors, Donna Karan, Giambattista Valli, Jason Wu, Prabal Gurung, Rag & Bone, Oscar de la Renta, Fendi, Chanel, Elie Saab and a slew of other designers. Her editorial work is just as extensive. She’s covered eight international editions of Vogue magazine and four international editions of Elle.

One look at her work for Forum an it’s easy to see why. She poses for photographer Zee Nunes in a series of stunning images for the brand’s winter 2014 campaign. Jonatan Frenk is the lucky male model at her side.Candice models form-fitting jeans, velvet, tweed and fur coats, leather jackets and, well, not much else on underneath.
